About
Our grandparents’ house, rebuilt with art
Artcetera comes from art and etcetera: creativity, freedom and the joy of doing things differently. The house comes from our grandparents. The rest is our story: how we came to rebuild it, fill it with art and give it a new life.
Our story
From our grandparents’ house to a small gallery
Artcetera Lodge is my father’s family home, the place where he grew up with his five brothers and sisters. This is where I listened to my grandmother’s stories about the war years, and the old house, with its two rooms, its pantry and its hallway, long remained part of the family’s memories. We began the transformation in the spring of 2025, keeping the old timber frame, which you can still see today between the living room and the kitchen.
We called it “Bucovina, reimagined for today”. The rock in the living room that hides the fireplace, and the rock that climbs alongside the staircase. The panelling with triangles that recall fir trees. The timber set into the concrete of the terrace. The big kitchen window, with a sill wide enough to sit on with your coffee, looking out over the village. Every material tells a piece of the same story, and every corner of the house has a purpose and a name, from the terrace where evenings stretch late into the night to the hammock from which you can see the stars.
Art is part of the experience, not just decoration
The walls of the house are hung with paintings by Ionuț, a graduate of the George Enescu National University of Arts in Iași: portraits full of character and watercolour landscapes that you discover one by one, from the living room right up under the roof. The house is a small gallery you can sleep in, and one of the paintings is waiting to go home with someone. If one of the available works catches your eye, we will tell you its story and its price.
Your hosts
When you arrive, you are welcomed by one of the two people on our team, both from Stulpicani. She gets the house ready, lights the fire, heats the hot tub and hands you the key.
During your stay, you can call us or message us on WhatsApp whenever you need us. And if we need to come over to Artcetera Lodge, we agree together on the best time.
And Artie, the house mascot, is a curious cat you may spot on the yard fence or perched in the orchard trees.
“The stone, the timber, the forest all around and the atmosphere created inside make you feel you have arrived somewhere straight out of a story.”
Dea Raluk, Google review (translated)
“We loved everything: the remarkable sense of style, the attention to detail and the special care for every need, however small.”
C. E., from the guest book, September 2026 (translated)

Social enterprise
What stays in the village
Artcetera Lodge is a social enterprise, set up through the RISE UP project – Revitalising rural communities by promoting the social economy.
For us, being a social enterprise means that a significant part of what we build here goes back into the community. Under the commitment made through the project, 90% of the profit goes to the social goals of the enterprise.
Over time, we will gather here the small and big things through which Artcetera Lodge passes something on.
People from the village
The two people who get the house ready are from Stulpicani and work with us. For them, Artcetera Lodge means a job close to home. For us, it means we can build this project together with people from the community.
Producers near us
Some of the produce you find at Artcetera Lodge comes from people in the village and the surrounding area. For cooked meals, guided walks and lunch at the sheepfold, we also work with people from here.
What comes next
We would like to support activities for the children of Stulpicani. We will publish here the projects carried out and how the resources were used.
