What you can add to your stay, with the people of the village
The house is only the beginning. All around it live people who cook the way it’s done at home, know the surroundings and still take their sheep up to the summer pastures. The experiences you can discover in the village start right here.
The experiences are optional and paid for separately. We help you arrange them and confirm them before your stay, depending on the season and on the availability of the locals.
At the table
A meal cooked by a local, at the cabin
Home-style food cooked by a local, at the cabin or brought hot to your table, in the living room or in the gazebo. After you book, you receive the full menu and choose whatever takes your fancy.
The cost is worked out as follows: 300 lei for the local cook’s service, plus the ingredients: 100 lei per adult and 50 lei per child over 8. For children up to 8, the meal is free.
For example, for 2 adults the total cost is 500 lei: 300 lei for the cooking and 200 lei for the ingredients.
Lunch or dinner at a sheepfold
A tour of a shepherds’ sheepfold with someone who knows it inside out, followed by a long table of starters, balmoș (cornmeal cooked with butter and cheese), drinks and fresh sheep’s produce. The experience lasts about 4-5 hours, including the journey to the sheepfold. 90 lei per person, 40 lei per child of any age, minimum 4 adults. From June to September, depending on the weather and the availability of the locals.
Local breakfast
In the morning we bring fresh produce from the village to the cabin, so you can start your day without worrying about shopping. The day before, you receive a list of suggestions from which you choose breakfast for the whole group.
Breakfast costs 30 lei per person; it is free for children up to 8, and 20 lei for older children. It is ordered the day before, for the whole group, and delivered between 07:00 and 10:00, at the time you choose.
Outdoors
Horse-drawn cart or sleigh ride
In summer, set off by cart along the village lanes; in winter, by sleigh through the snow, with a blanket over your knees. A ride of about an hour and a half, starting from Artcetera, for up to 8 people.
80 lei per person, minimum 4 adults; free for children up to 8, and 45 lei for older children. In winter, the sleigh ride depends on the weather and on there being enough snow; when there is no snow, we go by cart. We confirm availability before the experience is booked.
Guided walk through the Slătioara old-growth forest
Two or three hours through Bucovina’s “wooden cathedral”, among very old trees, twisted trunks and roots that give the forest unexpected shapes. A local walks with you and tells you about the place and about how the forest here follows its own cycle: fallen trees stay where they lie and become part of the life of those that keep growing. At the end, a picnic of local produce is waiting.

A walk through the hay meadows of Bucovina
Meadows in flower, freshly mown hay fields and hills fading into the distance. A two to three-hour walk around the village with a local who knows the area, followed by a picnic of local produce.

The experience is available in the warm season, depending on the weather and on the guide’s availability. The picnic is included in the price.
Picking seasonal fruit or mushrooms
Depending on the season, you set off with a local through orchards and forests, basket in hand. You learn what is ready to be picked when you visit and how the produce of the place is used. At the end, an open-air picnic is waiting. If you want to take the experience further, what you have picked can then be cooked at Artcetera with a local, as part of the “Meal cooked by a local, at the cabin” experience, booked separately.
50 lei per person, minimum 4 adults; free for children up to 8, and 30 lei for older children. It lasts about 4-5 hours. The experience is available from June to October, depending on the season, the weather and what nature has to offer at the time. It is confirmed before booking.
Transfers
If you would rather not drive to Artcetera, we can pick you up from the railway station or the airport and bring you straight to us.

The price is per person, each way, regardless of age. We don’t have child seats or booster seats available.
If your train or flight is delayed for reasons beyond your control, we understand and adjust the pick-up time to your new arrival time.
The service depends on the driver’s availability, which we confirm when you ask.
How to book them
Add them to your booking request or send them to us on WhatsApp. We talk to the people in the village and confirm availability before the experience is considered booked.
Experiences are paid for before they take place, at Artcetera Lodge, separately from the deposit for your stay.
If an experience is cancelled because of the weather or because the local is no longer available, the amount paid for it is refunded in full.
If your plans change, please let us know as soon as possible. That way we avoid sending people from the village out for nothing or changing their schedule needlessly.
Frequently asked questions
What can we do all year round?
The meal cooked by a local, the local breakfast, the transfers, the cart ride and the walk through the Slătioara old-growth forest are available all year round. The sheepfold is open from June to September, picking trips run from June to October, and the sleigh only goes out when there is snow.
How much do children pay?
For most experiences, children up to 8 take part free of charge. The prices are:

- Guided walk through the Slătioara old-growth forest: free up to 8; over 8, 40 lei per child.

There are only two of us. Can we go to the sheepfold?
Yes. Experiences with a minimum of 4 adults can also be arranged for a smaller group, provided the price for the minimum number of adults is paid. If there are only two of you, tell us which experience you would like. We check availability and tell you exactly how we can arrange it.
